Much better fishing

Well the past few day's the fishing has been great. We have had over 20 bites every day. One day we had about 50 bites. Our best day of catching we caught 17. Our guy's had a great time and caught more billfish than they had caught their entire lives. Mission accomplished. The wind is still blowing, but they are calling for it to start falling out over the next few day's. Wednesday is our last day of fishing, then we will leave as soon as we can after that. I can't wait, I'm ready to be home. I have been gone for over 2 month's now and it is really starting to wear on me. Plus I have so much to do when I get home. Right now I have no idea where we are living come May 1st. So my #1 priority is to find somewhere to live, #2 is start packing all our stuff. #3 get my tackle ready for the season in North Carolina. So much to do, and so little time to do it in. Anyway, no fishing tomorrow, so I'll try to find some more pictures to post.

Good Fishing

Had a great day today. We left a little early and did get in on the early morning sailfish bite. We ended up catching 8 out of about 20 or so. We had some bird fishing and some trolling bites. About mid-day when the bite slowed we worked our way offshore to try some bottom fishing. I ended up catching the largest Kitty Mitchell Grouper (strawberry grouper, speckeld hind) of my life. It weighed 34lbs. which is big for a Kitty Mitchell. We also caught some silver snappers, tilefish, and barrell fish. Great day. Im tired, enjoy the photo's.

Better Fishing

The wind died down today and made for very pleasant sea conditions. We were lucky and found the bait this morning, and it was holding some fish. We ended up catching 7 out of about 20 bites. We had the crew of the Pig Rig fishing with us. They wanted to come down and learn more about using circle hooks. Tomorrow we are leaving a little early and hope to find the early morning sailfish bite, then we are going out in the deep tomorrow for some grouper and snapper fishing. And then I guess we are going to have a big fish fry on the dock tomorrow night. Should be fun. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post.

Carnival

Well no fishing today. We got blown out again. The weather is in the 50's and it is windy. Since we are not fishing I will post some pictures from carnival.

Slow, Slow and mo slow

I wish I could say things are getting better, but they are not. Really slow fishing again today. We caught 1 sail at 7:30 a.m. had one other bite that we missed, saw a few more that never bit and that was our day. We got back in after dark, so it was a long day. Tomorrow I think we will start the morning sail fishing, then go bottom fishing or try something different. Who knows maybe I'll get a really cool picture of something to post.

Poor Fishing

Well I guess if I had more fish I would have more to write about. This is going down as the worst sailfish year ever down here. I think we are a few hundred fish off where we were last year at this time. We caught 1 today. 5 yesterday. I think the most bites anyone had today was 5. Catches ranged from 4 to 0. Boats were spread out from 40miles south of Isla, to us 40 miles north of Isla. Nothing to get excited about. Rough Slow Fishing! I know it sounds bad, but only 2 more weeks. Ill post some pictures tomorrow or something. Have a great weekend.

Monday Report

We had the same group again today. They sure are a fun group to hang out with. In the morning we could not get a sailfish bite to save our lives. We did catch a few barracuda, bonita, king mackerel, cero mackerel, we stopped and bailed dolphins, and at the end of the day we ended up catching 3 sailfish. For those who do not know when i say dolphin I mean Mahi Mahi, or as the locals call them Dorado. Balling them means that we use light tackle to catch a smaller class of dolphin. We did end up catching 10 of them pretty quickly for not being rigged up for it.
