Almost all the way there

Wow, ton's and ton's of traveling. I am currently sitting in Cape Verde, waiting to get on another plane and go to another Island. We left the beach yesterday about 10am. We flew out of Raleigh at 6pm. We flew to London and arrived in the 6am hour. From there we flew to Lisbon, and from Lispon to here (Praia), and we will soon be off to Sao Vicente. This has been some of the most boring travels of my life. Oh well, we will be there soon, and will soon be catching Blue Marlin. Ill try to keep you updated I am trying to figure out the time and what not. I think we are 3 hours ahead of eastern standard time.

Cape Verde = Blue Marlin

Okay, so I know I have not posted anything since I left Mexico. Here is a recap. It was a rough crossing from Isla to Key west. Not fun at all, took over 20 hours. Stayed in Palm Beach for a few days and had pretty weather all the way back home. Since arriving home I have begun our move. We are moving from our town house in Kitty Hawk, to a a house in Manteo. The new house is on the water and is very relaxing. The best part is we did not have to sign a lease, so now we can focus on buying a home of our own. Saturday I leave for Cape Verde. Cape Verde is off the coast of Africa and that is where the blue marlin live. I can't wait to go. Fin, Paul Mann, Scott Kerrigan, and myself are going on the trip. Sounds like traveling to get there may be a bit of a challenge. I promise once I get there I will begin to update my blog again.

Vamanos Carolina Norte

We are leaving today for the first leg of our journey back to North Carolina. The past several days have been rockin. Our best day we caught 30, another day of 23, and yesterday slowed down a little and we caught 8. Making this trip for 5 years I have seen some pretty cool things, but there were a few things I wanted to see that I had never seen. I wanted to see a Manatee ande I saw that on our way down in Ft. Pierce (see one of first posts). I also wanted to see a Whale Shark. Well yesterday with about 30 minutes left in our day I spotted one. We circled it and got a great look at it. I asked Rom if I could jump in and he did not care. Within about 30 seconds I had a mask and snorkel, fins, and underwater camera. It was one of the coolest things I have ever done. I got some pictures. Check them out. I am leaving here in a few hours, and should arrive in Key West at first light tomorrow. So if you have been dying to talk to me, call me tomorrow. Much better fishing

Well the past few day's the fishing has been great. We have had over 20 bites every day. One day we had about 50 bites. Our best day of catching we caught 17. Our guy's had a great time and caught more billfish than they had caught their entire lives. Mission accomplished. The wind is still blowing, but they are calling for it to start falling out over the next few day's. Wednesday is our last day of fishing, then we will leave as soon as we can after that. I can't wait, I'm ready to be home. I have been gone for over 2 month's now and it is really starting to wear on me. Plus I have so much to do when I get home. Right now I have no idea where we are living come May 1st. So my #1 priority is to find somewhere to live, #2 is start packing all our stuff. #3 get my tackle ready for the season in North Carolina. So much to do, and so little time to do it in. Anyway, no fishing tomorrow, so I'll try to find some more pictures to post.

Good Fishing

Had a great day today. We left a little early and did get in on the early morning sailfish bite. We ended up catching 8 out of about 20 or so. We had some bird fishing and some trolling bites. About mid-day when the bite slowed we worked our way offshore to try some bottom fishing. I ended up catching the largest Kitty Mitchell Grouper (strawberry grouper, speckeld hind) of my life. It weighed 34lbs. which is big for a Kitty Mitchell. We also caught some silver snappers, tilefish, and barrell fish. Great day. Im tired, enjoy the photo's.

Better Fishing

The wind died down today and made for very pleasant sea conditions. We were lucky and found the bait this morning, and it was holding some fish. We ended up catching 7 out of about 20 bites. We had the crew of the Pig Rig fishing with us. They wanted to come down and learn more about using circle hooks. Tomorrow we are leaving a little early and hope to find the early morning sailfish bite, then we are going out in the deep tomorrow for some grouper and snapper fishing. And then I guess we are going to have a big fish fry on the dock tomorrow night. Should be fun. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post.

Carnival

Well no fishing today. We got blown out again. The weather is in the 50's and it is windy. Since we are not fishing I will post some pictures from carnival.
